    SOME FAQ’s

How long does grass seed take to grow?

Patience, my friend! Our grass seed starts sprouting in 7-10 days, but full coverage can take a few weeks. Good things (and great lawns) take time! 🌿

When is the best time to plant grass seed?

    Spring

✅ The temperature is rising, so seeds will germinate well.

✅ Rainfall helps with moisture (but dry spells mean more watering from you!).

⚠️ Weeds are more active, so you might have to fight off some uninvited guests.

⚠️ Hot summer weather can stress young grass before it’s fully established.

    Autumn

✅ The soil is still warm from summer, helping seeds germinate quickly.

Rainfall increases, meaning less watering for you!

Weeds are less aggressive, so your new grass has less competition.

✅ Roots have time to establish before winter, making for a stronger, greener lawn in spring.

Winter & Summer – Not Ideal!

Winter is too cold for germination. Seeds will just sit there, waiting for warmer days.

Summer is often too hot and dry, making it harder to keep new grass hydrated.

How often should I water newly sown grass seed?

Watering is crucial for seed germination, but balance is key—too little and the seeds dry out, too much and they might rot.

    For the best results:

Water lightly once or twice a day to keep the soil consistently moist but not soaked.

Use a gentle spray or sprinkler to avoid washing away seeds.

Once the grass starts sprouting, reduce watering to once a day or every other day, depending on weather conditions.

When the grass reaches about 2 inches tall, shift to deeper, less frequent watering to encourage strong root growth.

Avoid overwatering—soggy soil can suffocate seeds and promote disease. The goal is damp, not drenched soil.

WhY is my grass Seed not GROWING?

Success starts with quality seed and proper preparation. Our seeds are DEFRA tested for high germination rates (+90%) — so growth comes down to how well you prepare the ground.

Key Steps to Get the Best Results:

Clear the Area – Remove weeds, old grass, and debris to give seeds the best chance to take root.

Loosen the Soil – Lightly rake or aerate the soil to improve drainage and seed-to-soil contact.

Apply Fertiliser – A pre-seeding fertiliser (like Grassias®) gives young grass the nutrients it needs to establish strong roots.

Sow the Seed Evenly – Spread seeds at the recommended rate, avoiding clumps or bare patches.

Press the Seed In – Lightly rake or roll the area to ensure good soil contact without burying the seeds too deep.

Water Consistently – Keep the soil moist but not waterlogged, watering lightly once or twice a day until the grass is established.

Protect from Birds & Foot Traffic – Use netting or a light covering if needed, and avoid walking on the area.

HOW DO I GET MAKE MY LAWN GREENER?

To get a greener lawn, focus on feeding, watering, and mowing correctly. Use a 6-9-6 fertiliser for balanced nutrients or iron sulphate to enhance colour and harden the grass. Apply fertiliser in spring and autumn for the best results. Water deeply but less often, preferably in the early morning or evening, to encourage strong roots and prevent evaporation.

Keep your lawn healthy by mowing at the right height, aerating compacted soil, and overseeding thin areas. If moss or weeds are an issue, iron sulphate helps suppress moss, while a selective weed killer targets unwanted plants. With regular care, your lawn will stay lush, green, and thriving.

    SHOULD I USE FERTILISER?

You don’t have to use fertiliser, but we highly recommend it if you want faster growth, stronger roots, and a greener lawn. Fertiliser gives your grass the essential nutrients it might not get from the soil alone, helping it establish quickly and stay healthy year-round.
